Briefly explain the focus you would have for a changecamp event, and explain why. (2 paragraphs).
The Changecamp event that I would create would involve volunteers who wish to assist the elderly in their communities with outdoor home management tasks. The event would be held three times a year, once in the winter, the spring/summer and the fall. This would enable the volunteers to organize themselves and prepare for the seasonal changes. For example, in the winter, they could partake in activities such as snow and ice removal and in the fall they could help with raking leaves and cleaning gutters.
This Changecamp would bring people together in face to face contact with their communities and with other people who share similar volunteering ideas. The elderly in communities are often forgotten about with regard to home management activities and it’s important to ensure their safety and way of life throughout the year with tasks that they may come to struggle with. The Changecamp could use the social web to maintain contact with the other volunteers throughout the year and also to post when they may require assistance.
